Keep Argyle Beautiful * Adopt-A-Spot * General Information

    Keep Argyle Beautiful is a provisional member of Keep Texas Beautiful.  Keep Argyle Beautiful Adopt-A-Spot program provides local families, businesses, civic organizations and other groups the opportunity to make an impact on the cleanliness and appearance of our community.  By accepting the responsibility and leadership of the adopted ‘Spot’, the group is not only increasing awareness of litter issues and the impact of beautification efforts, but is also publicly demonstrating a positive behavior of local pride and ownership of Argyle. “While research indicates roadside litter has dropped by 33 percent since 2001, more than one out of two Texans (55 percent) admits to littering.”  Together, we can make a difference in the roadways of our community.

To participate in Adopt-A-Spot, follow these steps:

1. Review the Adopt-A-Spot requirements below.
2. Select a ‘spot’ appropriate to the capabilities and size of your group.  There is a map highlighting prepared ‘Spot’ locations.  Your group can choose from the location list provided, request an area of needed attention or a ‘Spot’ close to your physical location.  If you are interested in a roadway or area that is not currently included as a “pre-portioned area” please included specific start and stop points. A newly requested area must be a length of at least 1 mile and include some portion in town limits.
3. Complete the Adopt-A-Spot Agreement, sign and submit to Keep Argyle Beautiful.

Adopt-A-Spot requirements:

1. Maintain your ‘spot’ for a minimum commitment of one year.  Proper maintenance will require cleaning it at least once a quarter with one cleanup date falling on Keep Argyle Beautiful Argyle Pride Day of that year.
2. Submit photos and/or stories periodically for publication on www.keepargylebeautiful.com and other media outlets.  Preferably submit photos with your group and your sign to reflect your group maintaining the ‘Spot’.
3. Train all members of your group on the content and procedures of the KAB Adopt-A-Spot Safety Do’s and Don’ts Guide.
4. Follow the KAB Adopt-A-Spot Safety Do’s and Don’ts Guide when cleaning your spot.
5. Complete the one page KAB Cleanup Worksheet after each cleanup.
6. Administrative Fee of $150 initially and $50 per year to cover the cost of the signs and program maintenance.
